"Hello everyone, I am Pururaj Singh Solanki, and I secured All India Rank 21 in the UPSC Civil Service Examination 2023. This was my second attempt, and my optional subject is Chemistry, which I prepared under the guidance and support of Shri RK Singh Sir. I'll talk a bit about my preparation journey. I started my preparation in 2021 after graduating in chemical engineering from IIT Bombay. I took almost a month to decide which option would be best suited to my personality, and since I had a prior interest in chemistry, I decided to pursue it. The guidance program under Ranjan sir lasted for about 9-10 months, and his interactive teaching style and life lessons along the way in completing the desired syllabus were very helpful. His teaching style was such that I never felt being in the online mode was any different than being in the offline interaction mode. Later on, I also took the test series program for both my attempts under Ranjan sir, and this program helped me in improving my answer writing skills and presentation skills. Since I was not able to clear the mains examination in my first attempt, Ranjan sir helped me carry forward my momentum and helped me build my confidence after this failure. I took it as a stepping stone for the future. Definitely, this helped me because I was able to improve my mains score by 98 marks in my second attempt, and I am hopeful that chemistry has played a crucial role in this. Ranjan sir also took a keen interest in helping me prepare for my interview stage, and his insights in chemistry, as well as chemical engineering preparation, were very helpful in comprehensively covering my DAF-related questions.
